Annual Congregational Meeting Minutes
Call to Order The meeting of the congregation was called to order at the church by President Gregg Burton at 12:55pm. Quorum A quorum was established. Minutes of January 21, 2007 The minutes of the last congregational meeting were projected on the wall for everybody to see and read. A motion was made to approve the minutes by Judy Nelson and seconded by Gregg Burton. The motion passed unanimously. Church website <www.DlgLutheran.org> Wanda Fulton encouraged the congregation to explore the new church website. From the website there is a link to Simply Giving, a way to make offerings using electronic banking. This makes donating on a regular basis easier. Another link is to the ELCA, including their news updates and notes of inspiration. The website address can also be found on the back page of the weekly bulletin. Budgets Wanda explained the two different budgets. The General Budget is for operating expenses and the Building-To-Serve (BTS) or Mortgage budget is for the church loan. Sheets were passed out to the congregation showing the Mortgage Budget, the General Budget, and the bank account balances. Also included is a report of the charitable giving for the year 2007 – the council distributes 3% of general offerings to various charities. The congregation reviewed the year end account summaries for 2007. The BTS Budget proposed by the church council for 2008 was presented and discussed. Gregg moved to pass the BTS Budget. The motion passed unanimously. The Operating Budget was presented by Wanda Fulton. Heating oil was increased to $4,000.00. Housing equity was explained. The pastor's health insurance needs have changed since her second job that provided health insurance ended. In order to budget for health insurance and to come closer to recommended Alaska Synod pastor compensation guidelines, the congregation increased the pastor's salary by $1,000.00. President Burton asked, if any amendments were being proposed; there were none. Some suggestions were made (tithing from unexpected income) and hopes expressed (an increase in offerings in 2008 for both budgets). Marilyn Rosene moved to approve the budget and Judy Nelson seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Miscellaneous items Wanda said it was easy to make dedicated offerings, just make a note on your check. Pastor Luisa talked about a change in the use of TEAM money. It now needs an application for special projects. Gregg Burton invited the congregation to consider a special offering that would allow Pastor Luisa to fly to Anchorage to be with Cristy Willer-Tilden during the funeral of her husband Ted. Judy Nelson moved to have Lisa Wimmer on the church council. The motion passed unanimously. Attention was brought to the sign-up sheets for volunteer activities in the church: cleaning, reader, greeting people, etc. Adjournment A motion was made by Judy Nelson to adjourn and all were in favor. The meeting was adjourned at 1:45pm.
